Creative Writing Therapy Trainer

This professional course is designed for those who wish to take the techniques and tools CWT and transfer them to professional practice as a Practitioner of Creative Writing Therapy. The educational level of the syllabus is also appropriate for those wishing to teach basic CWT workshops of their own devising, either along the basis of the CWT Self-Help course, or build completely original courses along individual themes and concepts.

Divided into six modules, the syllabus commences with a look at the practices previously studied at a foundation level and adds to these with more advanced methods, such as mirroring and transference psychologies. We then begin to take apart each technique used in the creative writing process and examine the psychological, physiological and actual effects of each, thus understanding how they work in a therapeutic environment.

With a solid grounding in how the individual techniques act, we then consider how they all interconnect to create a unique therapy program tailored to the needs of individual clients. We look at the creation of "objective plans", investigating how these can be used as a framework and evolved when working with your clients. We then focus on the ways these can be transposed to real-life situations with the purpose of practicing and creating case studies on test subjects, examining their progress and gaining feedback.

In the later stages of the course we turn our attention to professional issues, such as the creation of a practice, possible contraindications in treatment, legal considerations and so on. In addition, we discuss further avenues of study that can help the practitioner to create a more holistic approach based on the outcome of the situations and issues encountered during this course.

At each stage of the course, students are asked to complete assignments and case studies to provide a quantifiable record of their understanding and abilities throughout their learning experience. This not only ensures professional standards of practice, it also increases the confidence of the prospective therapist and helps locate areas that may require additional work or training.

On completion of this course, successful students will be awarded an accredited diploma through vDynamics, thus enabling them to practice in a professional environment, either as a therapist, or teacher of Foundation level CWT.
